Public invited .... The General of Women’s Clubs an- last week from New York the names of 53 women leaders who are pioneers in their field of work. Included in the list is Cora Wilson Stewart of Tryon and Kentucky, representing rural edu cation. Dr. Mary Woolley and Miss Martha Berry, are two other women listed in the same field . . . Miss Hope Rogers, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Carroll Rogers has been elected to membership in the Alpha Sigma honorary society at Converse College, one of ten elect ed each year from the incoming Senior class on a basis of scholar- CONTINUED ON BACK PAGE Erskine Society to Meet With Mrs. Carroll Rogers The Women’s Society of the Erskine Memorial church will meet for the May meeting on Tuesday afternoon at 3:30, May 20th, at “Lynncote” the home of Mrs. Carroll Rogers. The program will be in charge of the young people of the church with Miss Lois Avant as leader. Week-End Camping Trip The Tryon Girl Scouts will have an overnight camping trip this weekend on Lake Lanier. Their leader, Miss Lois Avant, will be assisted by a number of the Scouts’ parents. FLOWER SHOW JUDGES Mrs. Olive Ashworth, Miss Christobel Sawyer, Mrs. Edward Addis and Mrs. Harkness Shiith were the judges at the Ruther fordton Garden Club’s Flower Show at the Country Club on Wednesday. P.-T. A. Meets Monday The Tryon Parents-Teachers Association will hold its annual meeting on Monday afternoon at 3:30 at the school auditorium. The president requests all committee chairmen to be present with a written report. New officers will be installed. During the social hour tea will be served in the cafeteria by the following hos tesses: Mrs. E. E. Missildine, Mrs. R. H. Millikin and Mrs. A. J. Jervey.
