C., TUESDAY, JUNE 10, 1941 SSO Fine for Failure to Have Health Certificate On March 15, 1941, the State Legislature amended the existing law requiring domestic servants to have health cards. The law as of March, 1937, states that all domestic servants shall, on enter ing employment, present a cer tificate stating they are free of venereal diseases, contagious, and tuberculosis, in the infectious state. This examination must be repeated for each new job, or once yearly on the same job, or on de mand of the employer. The amend ment states that any domestic ser vant who shall fail or refuse to comply with the terms of the above, upon conviction shall be fined not more than SSO or im prisoned not more than 30 days. Dr. Hudgins urges employers to cooperate with the enforcement of this very reasonable law by requiring health certificates of their domestic servants. When possible, they should go to their private physician, otherwise, to the health department. It may be further stated that the blood test and examination must be made within two weeks prior to the presentation of the health card to an employer.
