Est. 1-31-28 Trowbridge Installed As Rotary President James R. Trowbridge was in stalled today noon at Sunnydale as the . new president of the Try on Rotary Club. R. C. Burnett had charge of the program which was held on Thursday instead of Fri day on account of the regular day falling on July 4th. Mr. Trowbridge w T ho moved to Tryon several years ago and built a home in the Hunting Country, was for merly president of the Franklin Savings Bank of New York. Since coming to Tryon he has taken an active part in community affairs especially with the development of- the agricultural interests of the county and in the promotion of manual training in the schools. The program next week will be in charge of Thomas Greene. Softball Game Postponed On Account of Races The softball game between the Kilowatts and Soumerco schedul ed for Friday, July 4th, has been called off on account of the Auto mobile races at Hendersonville. Kilowatters, Sourmerco Win The Kilowatters and Soumerco won in softball on Wednesday afternoon at the ball park by the scpres of 8 to 1; and : 7 to 2 respectively, The Kilowatters took the first from tlie Bushwhackers in stride with Brock the Kilowatters’ pitcher striking out several men. In the following game of the double header the Bird Hunters dropped a 7 to 2 decision to Soumerco. 51.50 Year in the Carolina* TRYON, N. C., THURSDAY, JULY 3, 1941 Tryon Golfers Win From Lake Lure 12 to 0 In the fifth tournament of the Piedmont Golf association tour nament held Wednesday afternoon at the Tryon Country Club the local team defeated Lake Lure team 12 to 0, making three wins and two losses for the Tryon team. The change in date, from Friday to Saturday, is due to the Fourth of July falling on Friday.
