Taxes to Be Advertised

Hague is giving notice in today’s
Bulletin that all unpaid county
„ tgxes will be advertised in next
peek’s issue of The Polk County
liews. All persons who have not
paid their county taxes have until
Tuesday morning to pay them and
prevent having their property ad
vertised for ncn-payment of taxes.
Funeral Rites Held
For John M. Shytle
John M. Shytle, 60, retired
farmer and prominent Polk coun
ty citizen, died Friday in a
Rutherfordton hospital and was
buried Sunday in Polk County.
Survivors include one daughter,
Mrs. Lawrence Jackson, of Ashe
ville and a sister, Mrs. W. Z.
Peeler, of West Asheville.
Nude—With Pineapple
The Theatre of th e Fifteen is
presenting an unusual play this
at the Old Mill Playhouse in
'p'lat Rock, near Hendersonville,
with an equally unusual title,
“Nude with Pineapple,” the work
of Fulton Oursler, editor of Lib
erty Magazine. Mr. Oursler first
wrote it as a novel, called “Be
hold This Dreamer,” and it was
later made into a play which was
presented in New York and on
tour. The new title is taken from
the story of the play, which con
cerns a young man who wants to
paint but who is prevented from
doing so by his wife and her pro
saic family. Because he is anx
ious for a divorce, his in-laws
contrive to have him placed in a

Town and County Officers
Made Raid In Colored Section
Chief of Police Claude Scoggins,
and Patrolman Donell Flynn of
Tryon police force, Sheriff W. D.
Hines and Deputy Foster made
a raid Saturday night in the
colored section of Tryon. Two
men were arrested and charged
with non-tax-paid whiskey. They
were Jesse Zieglar and Alf Payne.
At the heme of Zieglar the officers
stated a quantity of whiskey was
taken along with five 10-gallon
kegs, four 5-gallon kegs, 20 gal
lon jugs; a score or more quart
bottles, two or three bushels of
pint bottles. The officers stated the
containers had had whiskey in
them. Payne was caught running
away from his home by raiding
officers with tWo gallons of whis
key. The two men were released
on bond after being taken to the
County jail at Columbus.
Cubs Meet On Wednesday
The Tryon Cub pack will hold
a public meeting on Wednesday
night at 8 o’clock at the Parish
House. The charter has arrived
from New York and will be pre
sented to the pack, and membership
cards will be given each member.
The meeting will be in charge
of the Pack committee chairman,
Douglas S. Blois. Mr. Blois will
leave next month to accept a
position at Green River Mills, but
he will continue his interest in
the Tryon Cubs and will come
here for the official meetings. The
Rev. Chas. L. McGavern is the
Cubmaster. The public is cor
dially invited to attend the exer
cises on Wednesday night.
