POLK FARMERS WIN
A delegation of Polk County
farmers attended the Farm Bu
reau meeting in Gastonia on
Thursday and won the SIO.OO prize
for fartherest distance and num
ber in attendance. This prize
money will he used in promoting
a strong farm organization among
Polk County farmers in the near
future.
These attending ihe meeting
were W. E. Elliott, J. M. Swain,
L. B. Durham, Frank Jackson, J.
H. Gibbs, all members of the
Agricultural Advisory Board for
Polk County and J. A. Wilson,
County Agent.
At this meeting it was pointed
out that al lother groups are
strongly organized and are profit
ing in many cases at ihe farmers’
expense—and if the farmers are
to survive in a time of high
pressure groups must be organiz
ed to let the wishes and the needs
of farm people be known when
ever necessary.
At this meeting it was voted
to start giving farmers an op
portunity to organize themsellves
in the near future, probably dur
ing August. It is hoped that all
farmers who are foresighted
enough 'to see the absolute neces
sity of some kind of representa
tion will join this organization,
tion. 'Those who desire may get
information from one of the above
men who attended the Gastonia
meeting.
