Est. 1-31-28 Presbyterians Give Farewell [ Party to Schilletters The members of the Tryon Presbyterian church gave a fare- j jwell party on Sunday afternoon j ■n honor of Major and Mrs. W. j A. Schilletter, who are leaving ! Tryon on August 15th. The par ty was held at the home of Rev. and Mrs. D. M. McGeachy on Lynn road, the former Sidney Lanier place, which was attrac tively decorated with summer flowers. Tea was served on the spacious lawn where the guests were assembled. On behalf of the members of the church, Supt. G. Isham Henderhson presented ; the guests of honor with a beau- J tiful salad bowl in recognition of ' the services of the Schilletters to j the church and in appreciation of j their fellowship and leadership. Major Schilletter had been treas urer of the church for over 12 years and had served in various pacifies as Sunday school sup erintendent, teacher, deacon and elder. Mrs. Schilletter was a teacher in the primary department and had been president of the Woman’s Auxiliary. Major Schil letter responded to the gift with expressions of gratitude for their kindness and for their coopera tion during the 17 years he and Mrs. Schilletter had made Tryon home. He expressed regrets at having to leave Tryon and the many friends here, but on account of being called into active service in the army it was necessary to move. Leonard says all members are urg ed to be present as there is some special business to transact.
