Friends of these students are invited to attend the interesting program. Softball Today The Bushwhackers and Adams- Millis No. 1 will play softball this evening at 6 o’clock at Adams- Millis ball park. Piednront Golf Association To Hold Field Day Wednesday The Piedmont Golf Association Field Day will be held at the Mimosa Country Club at Morgan ton on Wednesday, August 27th. A dozen players are expected to 1 go over from Tryon. Players with out transportation should notify E. C. Rowe or Larry Brooks. Junior Mixed Foursomes At Tryon Club Thursday A Junior Mixed Foursome tour nament will be held at the Tryon Country Club on Thursday of this week. The event is a match play two ball foursome. Drawings are as follows: Margaret Sprague and Seth Vining, Jr., versus Faye Sprague and Jim Marshall; Eliza beth Anne Vining and Jim Jack son versus Ruth Rowe and Robert Green; Hope Regers and Alan T. Calhoun versus Claudia Helms and Jim Baker. TRYON, N. C., MONDAY, AUG. 25, 1941 Mrs . Rolla Dyer Mrs. Rolla (Nettie Ryant) Dyer, 87, passed away Saturday noon at 12:45 after an illness of about 18 months. Funeral services will be held this afternoon at 4 o’clock at the Church of the Holy Cross. The Rev. C. L. McGavem, rec tor, will officiate. Interment in Tryon cemetery. The deceased was the wife of the late Rev. Rolla Dyer, retired Episcopal minister, who passed away last year. She is survived by one son, Dr. R. Eugene Dyer, the noted scientist, who is now in South America conducting experi ments for the health department. One step-daughter also survives her, Mrs. L. R. Akers,- ST., of Ohio. There are a number of grandchildren. Mrs. Dyer was a native of Ohio but had*, made her home in Tryon with her husband for about 23 years. They were keenly in terested in the civic affairs of the community. Relatives here for the funeral services include Mrs. R. Eugene Dyer, William Dyer and Miss Mary Dyer of Washington, D. C., Mrs. Edward Dyer and son, Edward, of Charlottes ville, Virginia. Palmer and Green Tie In Kickers Tournament The Kickers Handicap Golf Tournament held at the Tryon Country club during the weekend resulted in a tie between Robert Green, 84-10-74 and Marion Pal mer 74-0-74. Second place went to D. P. Mitchell. 86-10-76. There were 15 entries in this event.
