County Bank & Trust Co. Mr.
Blanton, who is also president of
the M. & J. Finance Co., which
he organized while living in Polk
County, bought the building per

$51,000 to $38,000 shewing that

ed in the association which pays

shall of Hendersonville have an
nounced the engagement of their
daughter, Betty Jane, to Mr.
James Wesley Mize of Columbia,
S. C. The marriage will be
solemnized on the morning of
September 21st, at 9 o’clock at
Calvary Episcopal church at
Fletcher in the presence of mem
bers of the immediate families.
The Rev. Mark Jenkins, rector,
will officiate. Miss Marshall, who
is a graduate of Duke university,
has been on the staff of the Wes
tern Carolina Tribune at Hen
dersonville since her graduation.
Mr. Mize is a son of Mr. and
Mrs. W. J. Mize of Landrum, S.
C., and is new stationed at Fort
Jackson, S l . C., where he is a
member of the National Guards.

Glee Club Formed At
Tryon High School
Under the direction cf Mrs.
Walter Jones and Edwin L. Beach,
a new member of the Tryon
school faculty, a Glee Club is be
ing formed. Already about sixty
members have been present dur
ing the past week at the initial
try-out. Mr. Beach, a graduate of
the University of Oregon, and
with two years at Bush Conser
vatory of Music, has had five
years experience in high school
work of this kind. While in New
York he took part in radio work
and was soloist with Fred War
ing’s Pennsylvanians. During the
year programs of various types
will be presented to the public.
