Special Masonic Meeting
Worshipful Master R. S. Jack
son has called a special meeting
of the Jeff L. Nelson Masonic
Lodge to be held on Monday, Octo
ber 6th, at 8 o’clock at Missil
nine’s hall. Mr. Jackson states
that business of the utmost impor
tance is to be discussed, which
will require action by the Lodge.

Church of the Holy Cross
The fall ingathering of ,the
Uinted Thank Offering of the wo
men of the church will be taken
at Sunday morning’s services at
the Church of the Holy Cross.
Special envelopes in which con
tributions to this offering should
be placed, will be available in the
pews.
Miss Lincoln Honored
Mrs. M. B. Caldwell and sister,
Miss Lois Avant, entertained cn
Friday evening at a towel shower
in honor of Miss Ruth Lincoln,
bride-elect of the month. The party
was held at the Caldwell home in
Gillette Woods. About twepty
four ladies were present to enjoy
the interesting games and re
freshments.
KIWANIS TUESDAY
The Tryon Kiwanis clhb will
meet on Thesday at 1 p. m., at Oak
Hall hotel. The program will be
in charge of County Agent J. A.
Wilson.
The Woman’s Missionary so
ciety of the Tryon First Baptist
church will meet cn Tuesday at
4 p. m., at the home of Mrs. J.
J. Gentry. Mrs. E. E. Bomar will
be the chief speaker.
Mrs. Hugh Henry and Miss
Edith Fitzgerald of New York
City and Eau Claire, of Wiscon
sin, are guests of Misses Eliza
beth and Edith Allen at Rose
mont.
Mrs. Joe Wall and baby have
left St. Luke’s hospital for their
heme in Tryon.

Mrs. Florence Averill, who had
a tonsil operation on Friday IXt
St. Luke’s hospital, has returned
home.
Jane Johnson, daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. M. B. Johnson has re
turned heme after treatment at
St. Luke’s hospital.
