Est. 1-31-28 TRYON, N C., MONDAY, OCT. 6, 1941 $41.65 For Tobacco Fund Sent From Tryon The collecting list and $41.65 for Over-Seas League Tobacco J.nd was sent off today to New York headquarters. The money is expected to buy from 8,000 to 10,000 cigarettes for the Over- Seas soldiers and sailors. The money was raised entirely by volunteered contributions from persons who brought the donations to the Bulletin office or handed them to the Curb Reporter on the street. There was no solici tation. There was no quota set, although some friends who had given to the same cause before expected at least SSO to be raised. This could have been done if the list had been taken around and people button-holed, but the Curb Reporter wouldn’t do that. Only those who wanted to give comfort to the British Over-Seas soldiers ■amd sailors are listed. Some of V doners are even opposed to -Smoking personally, but are glad to do anything to help the men fighting over-seas. Those donating to this fund were listed as follows: Mrs. E. G. Dailey, Miss Susan Harper, Julian B. Hester, Bill Parker. C. J. Lynch, Mrs. Leroy Williams, Mrs. S. B. Edwards, Mrs. P. H. Jackson cf Hendersonville, J. S. Blackwell, W. E. Kilpin, R. A.
