Est. 1-31-28 TRYON, N C., WEDNESDAY, OCT. 15, 1941 Landrum Voters Will Nominate Official Slate Landrum, Oct. 14. Landrum .citizens will held a mass meeting *in town school auditorium Fri day night at 7:30 o’clock to nom inate candidates for the municipal election. The date will be fixed and other requirements arranged. A mayor, four councilmen and a water commissioner are to be elected.—Spartanburg Herald. Court of Honor Monday The first meeting of the Polk County Court of Honor since the spring session, will be held on Monday night at 7:30 at the Parish House, according to Scout Executive R. M. Schiele of Gas tonia. COUNTY 4-H TEAMS Three Polk County 4-H judg ing teams will enter State Fair Judging Contests on Friday, Oct. 17th. They are: Crops Team: Russell Garrett, Hubert Mclntyre, Wilbur McAbee. Livestock Team: Randall Lath an, Bruce Cantrell, Harold Weav er. Poultry Team: Joe Stockton, Floyd Fagan, Trey Morris. The nine boys accompanied by County Agent J. A. Wilson and Assistant County Agent S. H. Dobson, will go to Raleigh on Thursday morning and return the following Saturday. Football Game Friday The Tryon high football team will get back in its own class on Friday, October 17th, meeting Biltmore high. The local boys had tough going against Christ school prep team and came out on the short end of a big score. This game gave the Tryon gridders a taste of good team work and should prove valuable experience. The Biltmore squad has been met on Harmon Field before and can be counted on to furnish stiff opposition. Tryon will be ready to have its full strength for the contest, with Captain Jack Melton having finally recovered from his knee innjury. All fans are urged to come out and see this game which will be one of the best of the seasonn. The game will start at 3:30. Scout Meeting Thursday Scoutmaster Will McCall has called a meeting of Boy Scout Troop No. 1 for Thursday night at 7:30 at the school house to make preparations for the County Court of Honor to be held on Monday night at the Parish House. Polish Prince and Princess Here For A Visit Prince Stanislas Czetwertynski of Warsaw, Poland, and his wife, the Princess Czetwertynski, who have been in the United States since 1931, have arrived in Tryon. They have leased the Edward Kinsey house in Gillette Woods through E. Perry Manville, and expect to spend several months here.
