Jesse B. Cooksey, 67, member
of a prominent Spartanburg coun
ty family and for many years
identified with the law entorce
ment activities of both the city
and county, died at 5:15 o’clock
yesterday afternoon at his home,
133 East Columbia avenue, follow
ing several months of declining
health and a serious illness of one
week.
A member of the city police de
partment for 16 years, Mr. Cook
sey served two years as chief of
Spartanburg county rural police.

The deceased is the father of
George D. Cocksey of the Tryon
post office. Funeral arrangements
had not been completed at press
time.

Mrs. Emily Swanson, 90, aunt
of Lester, Loren and Decatur
Wilson of Polk County, passed
away Thursday at her home in
Tennessee. Mrs. Swanson was a
native of Rutherford county and
at one time lived in the Green
Creek section of Polk County.

man of Salem College, have arriv
ed for the Boan-Lincoln wedding
on Saturday evening.
Turkeys will be plentiful for
Thanksgiving dinners November
20th, but may be scarce by Nov. t
27th, if the larger consumer states,
observe the first Thanksgiving.
