CURB REPORTER Continued from Page One strongly last weekend when Bishop Mikell of Atlanta came by for a visit with Rev. and Mrs. W. S. Turner and son, Stephen, at their home in Gillette Woods. The purpose of the Bishop’s visit was to bless the home. Mr. Turner is the rector of the Episcopal church at Winston-Salem. He is subject to call as a chaplain in the army. His home in Ti*yon is a retreat for vacation and holi days Fiddler’s Convention At Green Creek Saturday Night An old-time fiddler’s convention at Green Creek school on Satur day night, Nov. 29th, promises to be a most enjoyable occasion for the people in all the surrounding country. The best bands are in vited to compete with- each other for cash prizes. The various kinds of string instruments will be in evidence. Competent judges will make the decisions. The most popular baby boy and baby girl under three years cf age will be selected by popular vote. Any boy or girl baby in Green Creek school district may be en tered. Guessing contests, cake walks, lots of fun. Come and bring your friends for a good time. BLACKOUT LIFTED Manager K. A. Bowen of the Duke Power Co., here received notice from company headquarters Thursday night that the blackout for this area had been lifted and stores and business houses using electricity for advertising and decorative purposes could resume their use of electricity as before the blackout order was issued.
