Burton Williams, 59, Polk County Forest Warden, died sud denly Sunday morning about 9:30 .. yfo’clock. Mr. Williams arose early Sun day and was preparing a fire in the home when he was stricken. He was rushed to St. Luke’s hospital where he died shortly after his arrival. Mr, Williams was for many years Polk County Game and For est Warden. He resigned the posi tion of Game Warden last year to take up the duties of Fire Warden which he has given his un divided time to. Mr. Williams was well known here and in the sur rounding counties of Polk, having been instrumental in the duties of protecting the game and for ests of Polk County. He was a son of the late John Williams and Nancy Constance y-Williams, pioneer reidents of the ™l;unty. Surviving are his wife, the form er Miss Miamie Bishop; one son, Burton Ray Williams of the U. S. Navy, stationed at an Hawaiian port; five daughters, Miss Carrie Williams of Columbus, Ga.; Mrs. Verlin Reese of Kalamazoo, Mich.; Miss Rosa Lee Williams of Tay lors, S. C.; Miss Nellie Faye Wil liams of Mill Spring; M>rs. Clyde Smith of Mill Spring; two broth ers, John N. and Will W. Wil liams, both of Columbus; a sis ter, Mrs. John Foster of Columbus and four grandchildren.
