F. & ij) M., was held Mionday evening m Missildine’s Hall, and the fol lowing were elected to serve the lodge as officers for the ensuing year: W. E. Kilpin, W. Master; W. E Spangle, Senior Warden; R. S. McFarland, Junior Warden, James B. Hester, Treasurer; G. L. Pace, Secretary. A public installation of officers will be held as soon as the neces sary arrangements can be com pleted and a further announce ment will be made as to the time and place of the ceremony which will give ample notice to those who may desire to attend. Basketball Tonight at 7:30; Tryon High Vs. Sunny View w-siThe Tryon high basketball team H/ll get underway tonight when View comes to the Tryon gym for the opening game on the local’s card. The visitors have been practicing for some time and have come out the victors in sev eral opening contests. The Tryon team with Jack Mel ton, Edward Beatson, Julius Earle Brock, and Jimmie Baker, left from last year’s squad will be supplemented with Clarence Scog gins, Spurgeon Arledge, Oscar Owens and R. L. Williams. The opening game will be followed by a game between the second teams of the two schools. The game will start promptly at 7:30. WEATHER MONDAY: High 63; low 34. TUESDAY, DEC. 9, 1941 TRYON, N C., Football Boys Entertained By Martin and Ballew Mr. and Mrs. C. A. Martin and Mr. and Mrs. Marshall Ballew en tertained the football squad at a steak supper Monday night. This supper was promised the boys if they should win over the Spar tanburg “Bees” by a score of 21 to 0. Such an incentive did this prove that the final score was 26 to 0. Short talks were made by Superintendent Caldwell, Coach Ed Beach, and Captain Jack Melton. Miss Watson and a group of girls—Marie Arledge, Betty Jo Salada, Mariel Derby, Kathleen Alewine and Marguerite Brantley, assisted in preparing and serving the supper. The guests included the follow ing: Jack Melton, Lock McGeachy, Spurgeon Arledge, Marion Ed wards, Marvin Edwards, Bill Bishop, Red Cox, Pickens Dur ham, Edward Beatson, Brock Henry, Nathan Moore, Frank Wall, Jimmie Baker, Jimmy Ed ney, Earle Buckner, Luke Mc- Kaig, Junior Ballew, Robert An drews, C. G. Carson, Tom Melton, Oscar Owens, Allison Martin; Joe Derby, and also, Mrs. Beach, Mrs. Caldwell, Miss Baldwin, Miss Sevier and Miss Jeffries. EVENTS CALENDAR Dec. 18 —Tryon school Christ mas program at 7:30. Dec. 24—Christmas Eve. No dances reported. Christmas Eve is just two weeks from day after tomorrow. $2.00 PER YEAR
