Sheriff Hines Warn Public
About Safety of Tires
Sheriff W. D. Hines issued a
warning today to motorists to
take caution as to' the safety of
}the tires they have on hand now.
The sheriff stated that after
January sth, when tire rationing
goes into effect, theft of tires
would be prevalent.
Mr. Hines pointed out the fol
lowing precautions:
Watch leeks on spares.
Take serial numbers of each
tire you have. In this way you
can identify your tires if they
are stolen.
If possible, carry only one spare
tire at a time.
Don’t park in dark alleys.
Do not park your car in a
place where a thief could easily
take your tires.
Securely lock your tires when
not in use.
Mr. Hines further stated that
if you buy tires from an indivi
|ial to be sure they have not been
Jfolen. He added,' “know from
whom you get your tires.”
Special Masonic Meeting
A special Communication of
Jeff L. Nelscn Lodge No, 605 A.
F. & A. M. will be held in Mis
siidine’s hall on Monday next,
January sth, 1942, at 7:15 p. m.,
for the purpose of installing the
newly elected officers.
The installation will be conduct
ed by the Deputy Grand Master
James E. Shipman, assisted by
the District Deputy Grand Master
Leon English in a public cere
mony at the Parish House at 8
p. m., that evening.

Soldiers Coming to Tryon
Beginning Sunday, January 11,
and continuing each second Sun
day of the month, the churches
of Tryon will sponsor a day in
Tryon for the soldiers frcm nearby
camps. The program for the day
will be divided into two parts.
First of all it. is desired that
as many people as possible will
invite soldiers fc-r dinner on this
day. And it is requested that all
those who desire ot entertain one
or more of the soldiers on this
day will notify Mrs. F. P. Bacon
no later than Thursday evening,
the Bth. If there are those who
wish to cooperate and yet are un
able to have guests in their home
they may make a cash donation
which will be used to provide din
ner at one of the inns.
The second part of the days’
program will take place at the
Parish House. The Parish House
will be open from 3:30 until 7 and
those who have had guests fcr din
ner will bring them to the Parish
House. There will be a period of
fellowship followed by a short in
formal service. After this supper
will be served.
The cooperation cf all Tryon
people is desired as it is felt that
this is an opportunity for us who
are at home to make a fine con
tribution.
Mrs. F. P. Bacon is chairman
of the Women's Committee to pro
vide the suppers. She will be as
sisted by Miss Thelma Mills,. Miss
Marjorie CappsrMrs. Robert Dick,
Mrs. Montgomery Whaling, and
Mrs. Walter Howell.
