C„ TUESDAY, JAN. 27, 1942 PLANS FOR THE THIRD REGISTRATION IN POLK ‘ApUNTY, FEB. 16, 1942 Julian B. Hester of the Polk County Draft Board has received approval and high praise from state headquarters for the following plan of registration to be held on February 16th: 1. An American Flag will be displayed in each registration place. 2. We anticipate between 800 and 900 registrants. 3. Arrangements have been made to establish a registration place in each township in the county as follows: Tryon Township The local board chairman, clerk, and four volunteers will handle the regis tration in the local board office. Columbus Township—Robert S. McFarland, clerk of court, and "Sur school teachers, volunteers, handle th e registration in the court house. Saluda Township—Mayor Roy Baisden and four volunteers will handle the registration in the school house or some other public building. White Oak Township—J. H. Gibbs, board member, and four school teachers, volunteers, will handle the registration in the school house or same other public building.. Green’s Creek Township—S>. L. Fagan, board member, and five school teachers, will handle the registration in the school house or some other public building. Lynch of the Polk County Council of Civilian Defense stated this mcrning that he hoped a large number of men in the county would turn out on Wednesday night at 8 o’clock to hear Judge Will Pless speak at the Lanier Library on the need of Civilian Defense. Mr. Lynch says the women cf the county are doing an excellent job in the work that has been asked of them and that if there i s anyone desiring information as to what his duties are in the present emergency Wednesday night will be a good time to seek the inform,ation.
