CHINA DAY AT ROTARY
The Rotary club of Tryon ( and
all other Rotary clubs in the
United States) have received a
letter from Tom J. Davis, presi
dent cf Rotary International,
from which we quote: “Please
set aside all other matters for
your meeting this week or next at
the latest for a China Day Pro
gram. ***** You are asked to
hold this meeting as an emergency
matter. There is an important
reason back of the request which
will be explained later. It is an
unusual opportunity for service
by U. S. Rotary clubs to their
country.”
F. P. Bacon, who has charge of
the program for the day has se
cured the widely known speaker,
Eugene Turner, at present resid
ing in Trycn. In order to be here
on this occasion Mr. Turner has
re arranged a speaking schedule
which takes him to many other
cities to talk about China. Since
1913 he has been active in YMCA.
Red Cross and relief work in that
country. His unusually wide circle
of friends there includes General
and Madame Chiang Kai-shek
whom he saw just before his pres
ent trip to the United States.
All Rotary Anns are invited to
hear IVTr. Turner after the club’s
luncheon at 1:30 at Sunnydale, on
