J. F. Peeler Dies
John Floyd Peeler, 39, Tryon
jeweler for the past 12 years, died
suddenly Friday evening about
6:45 while working at his desk.
Walter Honeman, a customer, was
talking to Mr. Peeler, when the
heart attack came. Mr. Honeman
said he uttered no sound as he
fainted into his arms.
Mr. Peeler was crippled by in
fantile paralysis years ago, but
he made many friends in this
section by the spirit in which he
carried on despite physical handi
caps.
Funeral services will be held
Mlonday afternoon at 5 o’clock
(war time) at the Tryon Methodist
church. The Rev. L. R. Akers, Jr.,
a former pastor, will officiate.
The deceased is survived by his
widow and one son, John Floyd,
Jr.; his mother, Mrs. Nannie
Peeler of Landrum; one sister.
Miss Annie Belle Peeler, of Land
rum; four brothers, Howard and.
Traynham of Landrum; Odell of
Asheville on Oteen road, and
Hcmer of Whitfield, N. H.
Mr. Peeler was born and reared
in the Landrum community.
Mental Hygiene Subject
For P.-T. A. On Monday
The Members of the Tryon
Parent-Teachers association will
hear an interesting talk on Mental
Hygiene on Monday afternoon at
3:30 at the Tryon schcol. Supt.
M. B. Caldwell, who has specialized
in psychology, will be the chief
speaker. The public is invited to
hear him. A social period will
follow the program. The hostesses
will be Mrs. Marcus Nash, Mrs.
J. W. Taylor, Mrs. David Todd
and Mrs. Edward R. Goodyear.
