Tryon to be Bird Sanctuary
At a recent meeting cf the Try
• club it was voted that

ITyon a bird sanctuary. Accord
ingly a petition was sent to the
Mayor and the Council, and at
this meeting on Monday the fol
lowing resolution was passed:
RESOLUTION
Whereas it is desirable to make
the town of Tryon a bird sanct
uary, and this Council has been
asked to lend its support to the
same;
Now therefore, be it resolved: —
1. That the entire municipal
area of Tryon be declared a bird
sanctuary.
2. That within the town limits
it shall be illegal to kill any wild
bird except hawks, blue jays and
starlings, 9 f any bird’s

4. That violations of the prohi
bition cf this ordinance shall be

This will be a satisfaction to
all bird lovers, and there are
many in Tryon. Already we have
more than a beginning for a Bird
Club that cculd be affliated with
the State Club. Feeding th e birds
is almost a leading activity in Try
on: many of the Garden Club
members are also members of the
N. C. Bird Club. This year par
ticularly we want to be prepared

Funeral services for John F.
Peeler who died Friday evening
were held on Monday afternoon at
the Tmn Methodist church con
