Waverley Hester received a tele
gram from Bob and Marion Ander
son inviting Tryon friends to see
the patriotic musical revue, “You
Can Defend America” at Converse
College Aud. tonight at 8 o’clock.
Bob Anderson formerly lived in
Tryon and his wife, Marion Clay
ton Anderson, an outstanding
movie actress, was featured in
“Barretts of Wimpole Street” and
also in “Mutiny on the Bounty”.
The revue to be given in Spartan
burg gave two performances in
Columbia, the second last night
upon invitation of the governor
and legislative officials. The cast
is composed of 75 people from all
dfffts of the nation chosen for

ing various phases of the impor
tance of defending America. Mar
ion Clayton Anderson plays the
part of “Miiss Trust” and does her
bit to sow seeds of suspicion and
finally causes the industrial ma
chine to slow down until “Total
Defense” . brings together all
groups to resume assembly line
production. Bob and Marion were
visitors in Tryon last year and
made new friends here. On Sunday
night their nlay will be presented
at the Carolina Theatre in Green
ville, S. C.Allen Lambright,
formerly of Landrum is chairman
of the Spartanburg County Coun
cil of Civilian Defense and will be
one of the hosts to the cast ....

Christian Science Lecture To
Be Delivered In Asheville
Violet Ker Seymer, C.SLB., an
authorized member of the Board
of Lectureship of The Mother
Church, The First Church of
Christ, Scientist, Boston, Mass.,
will speak in Asheville on Friday
evening, March 6th, at 8 o’clock.
The lecture is free to the public.
No cards required and no admis
sion fee will be charged. Miss
Ker Seymer, comes to Asheville
under the auspices of the local
Christian Science church. The
lecture, which is entitled: “Chris
tian Science; The Logical Inter
pretation of Life” will be deliver
ed in the church edifice, 64 North
French Broad Avenue.
