Smith, chairman of the Polk County rationing board, to prepared with full informa ' tjffl^when they register at elemen tary schools in their vicinity May 4, 5, 6, 7. Stores, institutional and indus trial users of sugar will register April 28th and 29th at high schools in their communities be tween the hours of 10 a. m., and 5 p. m. They will be required to file detailed records for two years. In the meantime, they will not be permitted to make any sugar sales after April 28th, ex cept upon surrender ol sugar cer tificates. Hence, retail sugar sales will be suspended for a brief period. Only one member of each family may register fur the family unit, but he or she must have with them data regarding the other members of the family. Ration M&8 will not be issued until all S© data are furnished, it was made clear. Here is the information which should be furnished at the time of registration: 1. A list of the members of the family an^ their exact names. 2. An exact description of each member of the family unit— height, weight, color of eyes, color of hair, age and sex. 3. The exact relationship of each member of the family unit to the person who is registering for the family unit. 4. Today is registration day for all men in America between the ages of 45 and 65. In Tryon the first man to register was L. F. Buchanan followed by Charlie Simms and C. N. Sayre.You can’t get any more sugar after midnight to night until the rationing cards are issued . . . . John Constance has been promoted to technical ser geant in the Army .... New voters in Polk County, those who have become 21 years of age since last election or who have moved to Tryon or any other place the re quired length of time aryl who desire to become citizens of their respective communities, may reg ister at their voting places on Saturdays May 2, 9, or 16th, be tween the hours of 9 a. m., and sunset. Challenge day will be Saturday, May 23rd, from 9 a. m., until 3 p. m. Primary election will be held on Saturday, May 30. The Rev. B. G. Henry won the Directors trophy golf tournament at the Tryon Country club during the weekend. This makes the sec ond time Mr. Henry has won the trophy. His score Saturday was 79-18—61. Edwin Beach was run ner up with an 85-25—63. Two other low scores were Julian Cal houn, 84-18—66 and J. M. Bak er, Sr., 95-27—69.
