Weather on Thursday: Low 52,

terday’s list of initial donors to
the USO the name of C. J. Lynch
was omitted through an error in
copying. Mr. Lynch is always
among the first to start the ball
to rolling in most civic move
ments .The price of those
peonies in Costa’s Flower ad is
75c a dozen. They are large beau
tiful flowers in all colors.
Nine Converse college girls en
tertained the Spartanburg Kiwanis
club on Thursday with a mock
radio broadcast emphasizing the
national defense program. Among
the-actresses in the skit was Miss
Libby Pratt, who was also
producer of the program. Miss
Yratt often visits Tryon; has sung
solos at the Congregational church
' and for the soldiers program, at
the Parish House .... The will
of the late Mrs. John Gary Evans
of Spartanburg was probated the
other day. Her personal property
amounted to $187,00U. Part of it
was left to grandchildren in Swed
en and to her husband, former
governor of South Carolina. Mrs.
Evans was a subscriber of The
Tryon Daily Bulletin and was in
terested in many friends and ac
tivities of this community . . . .
Pretty soon Tryon grocerymen will
have to work out some form of
' joint delivery service if the tire
and gasoline situation gets worse.

Gasoline Rationing
On May 12, 13, 14
Commencing May 15th, all non
commercial cars will need gaso
line ration cards for-the purchase
of gasoline. Registration for these
cards will be on May 12th, 13th,
and 14th. Register where you
registered for sugar. (Exception:
Those who registered, at Lynn and
at the Tryon colored school will
register at Tryon high school).
Bring your car registration
card with,you. If you have more
than one card bring the registra
tion card for each car. If you use
your car for business, come pre
pared to state the daily mileage
of the car for such purposes.
It is the intent of the govern
ment to curtail unnecessary driv
ing, but to permit full purchase
, of gasoline for legitimate business
purposes.
Operators of all trucks and other
motor vehicles that are readily
recognized as commercial vehicles
will not need cards for gasoline
purchases.
All other operators, including
commercial users whose vehicles
are not clearly marked as commer
cial, will need one of five types of
cards to be issued on application.
Jerry Drew of Tryon, has been
appointed Gasoline Advisor and
will supervise the registration..

announcements. Remember the reg
istration dates and remember that
Gas Rationing will start on May
15th.
The Polk County Rationing
Board has moved its office to the
Washburn building. The office will
