Soliders Entertained Here
Tryon entertained over 60
soldiers from Camp Croft on Sun
day. The men were carried to the
various homes for Sunday dinner,
then taken for hikes ‘or rides to
the mountains, and all of them
met later at the Parish House
for games, assembly singing and
a devotional service conducted by
Dr. Chas. G. Sewall. The assem
bly singing was directed by Louis
F. Bunte who also sang several
solos. Mrs. Bunte and Mrs. Edwin
Beach were the accompanists.
A supper prepared by the various
churches of the community was
served under the direction of Mrs.
F. P. Bacon. Mrs. Nelson Jackson,
Jr. had charge of the entertain
ment. Over 100 plates were serv
ed to the soldiers and some of the
hosts an^ hostesses. Two large
buses came to the Parish House
at 8 o’clock to take the men back
to Camp Croft. They left singing
and waving goodbye. The spirit
of fellowship permeated the en
tire day. Most of the visitors
were from the East as indicated
by the following list of those re
