Furr, Sr., formerly superintendent of the ^rVims-Millis here, was a recent ^^Ttor to his parents at High Point. Grover, ' an airplane pilot has had thrilling experiences pilot ing airplanes from Miami, Fla. 14,000 miles across the ocean, desert and mountains to Africa, China, Burma and India. His ships carry food, medicine and ammunition and sometimes refu gees. His 21 passenger plane brought 59 refugees out of Bur ma away from the Japanese. He says the American Volunteer Group, “Flying Tigers” is the greatest fighting aggregation in the war. He says if there were enough of them they would make a real dent in Japan. Whereas, the Selective Training and Service Act of 1940, as amend ed, authorizes the President of the United States to designate the times and places for the registra tion of the persons required to register by the provisions of said Act; and Whereas, the President of the United States duly designated Oc tober 16, 1940, as the First Reg istration day; July 1, 1941, as the Second Registration day; February 16, 1942, as the Third Registra tion day; April 27, 1942, as the Fourth Registration day; and has now, by proclamation dated May .2, 1942, designated TUESDAY, JUNE 30, 1942 between the hours of 7:00 a. m. and 9:00 p. m. as the Fifth Reg istration Day; and Whereas, the President in said proclamation has called upon me, as the Governor of the State of North Carolina, to do and perform all acts and services necessary to accomplish and effect the complete registration in this State of all those required to register accord ing to said proclamation: Now, Therefore, I, J.
