ma away from the Japanese. He
says the American Volunteer
Group, “Flying Tigers” is the
greatest fighting aggregation in
the war. He says if there were
enough of them they would make a

Fifth Registration Day, Tues
day, June 30, 1942, 7 a.
m., to 9 p. m.
Whereas, the Selective Training
and Service Act of 1940, as amend
ed, authorizes the President of the
United States to designate the
times and places for the registra
tion of the persons required to
register by the provisions of said
Act; and
Whereas, the President of the
United States duly designated Oc
tober 16, 1940, as the First Reg
istration day; July 1, 1941, as the
Second Registration day; February
16, 1942, as the Third Registra
tion day; April 27, 1942, as the
Fourth Registration day; and has
now, by proclamation dated May
.2, 1942, designated
TUESDAY, JUNE 30, 1942
between the hours of 7:00 a. m.
and 9:00 p. m. as the Fifth Reg
istration Day; and
Whereas, the President in said
proclamation has called upon me,
as the Governor of the State of
North Carolina, to do and perform
all acts and services necessary to
accomplish and effect the complete
registration in this State of all
those required to register accord
ing to said proclamation:
Now, Therefore, I, J. Melville
Bropghton, Governor of the State
of North Carolina, in. response to
the call made upon be as contained
in the proclamation of the Presi
dent of the United States referred
to above, and by virtue of the pow

this State, do proclaim the follow
