SOLDIERS ENTERTAINED
Several hundred Camp Croft
soldiers were entertained during
the weekend in Tryon. Most of
them went swimming in Lake
Lanier. A large number were
.JpKfor overnight visits in hotels
aWSr homes. About 40 reserva
tions were made through Mrs. F.
P. Bacon for Sunday dinner in
various homes and the entertain
ment at the Parish House with
supper prepared by the women of
the church of the community.

Lt. Vernon Fowles Sends
Microfilm Letter to His
Mother Here
Mrs. Ella Fowles of Tryon has
received a letter from her son,
Lieut. Chas. Vernon Fowles, who
is now in England. The letter was
first photographed along with
thousands of others on a tiny roll
of celluloid film and sent by air
plans to New York where the roll
of film was developed, the pictures
enlarged, and the one to Mrs.
Fowles was clipped and sent to
