Thomas) Lillian, daughter of Mrs. Pau line Butler was married last week to Sergeant Buford Hunt. He is with the Army Coast Guard at Fort Moultrie, Charleston, S. C. Ernest Chappell and his moth er spent the weekend in Saluda. Ernest is taking a radio course in Asheville. Mrs. Chappell has a job in West Asheville. Betty Jo Pace is taking a busi ness course at Blanton’s Business College in Asheville. Betty Thomas is attending night classes in stenography in Hen dersonville. She and Elizabeth Hart (nurse) have an apartment in Hendersonville, and will do light housekeeping. I* Mrs. Blanding Holm, and her nthree children of Batesburg, S. C. --are visiting Mrs. Holm’s mother, Mrs. Ed. Shaeffer. Mrs. Holm gave a neighborhood birthday partv for the children Saturday afternoon. Mr. and Mrs. wancnope ot Co lumbia, S. C., are in Saluda. Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Wade ~of Salley, S. C., are in theii> cottage. Dr. and Mrs. J. K. Webb and two children are in the Shaeffer cottage. _ Mrs. Bowen, sister of Miss Janie Thompson, is quite ill at St. Luke’s hospital. Mrs. Alice Fulton has gone to Tampa, Fla. The gasoline storage tank explosion Tuesday morning in Wawnesville which' killed four people and wounded five, Has claimed its fifth victim. W. L. Hardin, Jr., the manager of the Standard Oil Co., there who did heroic work in staying too close to the tanks to warn others away, died of his wounds on Wednesday. He was a son of the secretary to Congressman Zeb Weaver and for eight years was bookkeeper for Dicus Bros. Construction Co., for merly of Polk County ....
