Roy Palmer Rotary Speaker
In Tryon Friday
Roy Palmer, merchandising and
advertising manager of the Duke
Power Company, Charlotte, who
was recently appointed dimout ad
visor for the Civilian Defense,
will be the guest speaker at the
Tryon Rotary club on Friday at 1
p. m., at Sunnydale. Mr. Palmer
is one of the nation’s outstand
ing leaders in electrical illumin
ation. Jerry Drew has charge
of the program.
TRYON BOYS’ CLUB
COMMENCEMENT
The public is cordially invited
to attend the annual commence
ment program of the Tryon Boys’
club on Friday morning, July 31st,
at the Tryon school auditorium.
The program will begin at 9:30.
Talks will be made by the boys
on the work of the club and prac
tical demonstrations will be giv
en on first aid, artificial respira
tion, weaving, and airplane mod
eling. Dr. George Farrand Taylor
will make a short talk. Displays
of weaving, leather work and air
plane models will be on exhibit.
The program will end with a soft
ball game between members of the
club.
