SALVAGE PILE GROWING
The Polk County Salvage pile
opposite Tryon Motor Co., is
growing. Look and see what you
can cntribute to help make the pile
bigger. Senator F. P. Bacon,
county chairman of the scrap
metal campaign visited several
communities in the county Tues
day. At Columbus Mayor John R.
Burgess is going to fence oif a
scrap pile and County Superin
tendent W. E. Sawyer is going
to urge all school children to give
their scrap metal to help win the
war. Professor Millsapps at Sunny,
view will do the same.

County Agent J. A. Wilson says
the 4-H clubs and farmers of Polk
County have already contributed
50 tons of—jscrap metal to the
government campaign for this
precious material needed to help
win the war.

Charles Carson, Tryon junk
bnyer, reports that he has sold
200,000 pounds of scrap iron to
junk yards since the scrap cam
paign started.
Dr. Robert R. Brooks, right
hand man, of OPA Leon Hender
son, has returned to Washington,
D. C., after a visit with his par
ents, Prof, and Mrs. James Brooks
at Landrum.
The Business Women’s Circle
of the Tryon First Baptist church
will have their regular monthly
meeting Thursday night at the
home of Mrs. C. E. Dominick, with
Mrs. Edward Fisher as leader.
