C., TUESDAY, SEPT. 29, 1942 How Many Hours Have You? There are several women in -^fcyon, nameless upon request, who j^H/e more than 500 hours of Red ^rcoss service to their credit. Of course, we can’t all give that much time. I can’t. Neither can Mrs. Everywoman with three children and the family washing. But you and I can give two hours a week if we’re good managers. And who isn’t, these days! The Red Cross rooms are open Monday through Friday from 9 to 1 in the mornings, for sewing and for surgical dressings; Tues day evenings for surgical dress ings, Wednesday afternoons for sewing. I know that we do our dusting and mopping and marketing in the morning. We always have. All the same, once a week we could market and then Red Cross. The children are at school and our Jwsbands won’t object to a can Of |^Ans for lunch in a good cause. vRtack the dust in the afternoon— or skip it until tomorrow. Some how, a little dirt on the floor seems unimportant right now. Once a week, for the duration, let’s ignore the household dirt and make Red Cross “What Every Woman Knows.”—Contributed. OCTOBER MEETING The special meeting of the Home Friendly club that was planned for this Thursday, October 1, will be postponed until October 8th. At that date the special meeting to make final Christmas plans will be combined with the regular October meeting. One meeting in October, Thurs day, the 8th, at 10 a. m., in the directors room of the Tryon bank. CURB REPORTER Weather Monday: high 85, low 45 ... . Major Schilletter’s ad dress in Columbia, S. Hanscomb now serving with the American Bomber forces in Australia. Mrs. Hans comb is making her home with her mother, Mrs. B. B. Turck in Gillette Woods, for the duration, and is taking an active part in war work here. She is helping out at the hospital and is the only woman air raid warden in the community .... Sergeant Keith Arledge arrived during the week end for a visit with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jno. A. Arledge. He was enroute from Camp Clai borne, La., to his new post at Hq. 82nd Div.
