Unofficial Polk County Elections Returns show that all
Democrats were elected to the various county offices. Wel
^j^preen for surveyor had, no opposition and Dr. Wm. St.
J^ren Jervey was elected coroner over J. L. Smith. More
people voted for sheriff than for any other office. The total
was 3,656, about .100 more votes than were received by the
others. It seems as if about 100 people voted for former
Sheriff Westbrook and nobody else.
Primitive Art Thursday
At Lanier Club
Harry Wallace, a newcomer to
Tryon, who has made a study of
primitive peoples will speak at
the Lanier library Thursday af
ternoon at 3:30. He will also ex
hibit interesting articles such, as
textiles made by primitive peoples.
The public is invited.
As more articles are soon to be
rationed it is absolutely essential
that the files of the Rationing
Board have the names of all people
of Polk County. Everybody who
for one reason or other has not
registered for sugar books shobld
do so immediately. Retailers are
reminded that they must turn in
their Sugar Stamps to their
wholesalers on or before Nov. 10.
