Isham Henderson In Navy
Assistant Postmaster G. Isham
Henderson of Tryon, has been ac
pected as a postal specialist in
U. S. Navy, with 3rd class
flker rating, and will leave next
for Norfolk, Va., for six
weeks Naval training before be
ing assigned to a definite post.
Mr. Henderson has been in the
Tryon post office for the past 19
years and he has been active in
church and civic affairs, having
been superintendent of Sunday
school and elder in the Tryon
Presbyterian church, he was ac
tive in the hospital drives, the
Drama Fortnightly, and other
affairs.
The Henderson home on Lind
court Drive will be occupied by
Postmaster and Mrs. George D.
Cooksey as soon as the Hendersons
vacate. Mrs. Henderson will re
main in Tryon for the present. A
successor to Mr. Henderson in the
post office has not been appointed.
