COFFEE RATIONING
John L. Washburn, chairman
Food and Clothing Committee of
the Polk County Rationing Board
has given the following informa
tion about COFFEE rationing
that EVERYBODY should know:
1. Stamp No. 27 in the pres
ent War Ration Book will be
used for the first coffee allowance,
the five week period from Nov.
30, 1942 to January 3, 1943.
2. Only persons who are 15
years or older as shown on their
War Ration Book are permitted
to buy coffee. It is the duty of
each retailer to detach the coffee
stamp himself and to make sure
that the age on each War Ration
Book presented to him is 15
years or over.
3. Each family must report
the number of pounds possessed
on Nov. 28. This report should
be made on a postal card proper
ly signed and mailed to reach
the Rationing Board on Dec. 10.
Failure to make this report may
result in the Board’s i-efusal to
issue any future ration books.
4. No consumer is permitted
to buy green coffee. This does
not apply to coffee roasted by the
retailer before delivery to the
consumer.
5. If a consumer finds it is
a hardship, because of transporta
tion, to buy in small quantities,
he may apply to the Rationing
Board for a certificate permitting
the purchase of larger quantities
by the removal of stamps from
the War Ration Book.
L/ook over your stockings and
other silk scraps today, discard
