MEET YOUR FRIENDS AT “THE PRESCRIPTION STORE”
OWEN’S PHARMACY, Phone 202. WALGREEN AGENCY
Aunt Petunie of Punkin Ridge,
puffing away on her corn cobb
pipe. Says, “As how she knowed
we were fighting this war fer
to make Amerikie safe for our
chillun. But she was afeared the
schools taking up so early, with
some little chillun having to leave
home before daylight, on cold
frosty mornins’ to meet them thar
buses, would catch their death of
colds and all die with T. B.’a.
And we wouldn’t have many
chillun left to enjoy our blessed
freedom. Lowed she knowed thar
ain’t but one time now, war time,
but for to save her life she didn’t
see why the schools didn’t take
hip a hour later these short days
and turn out a hour later, and
that would be a plenty early to
git out on these here cold winter
days. Fer I done looked in my
Ladies’ Birthday Almanac and the
sun don’t rise till 8:15 and the
days air gettin’ shorter.”
Quaint little woman of Punkin
Ridge, I believe many will agree
that you have something there.
