of Tryon is building a WPA sewer
line from the Negro school to
Vaughn Creek line .... Mr. and
Mrs. W. B. Parker have moved
from the valley to the Hester cot
tage on Godshaw Hill.
CITY BASKETBALL
LEAGUE FORMED
The city basketball league was
formed Wednesday night with the
following teams participating:
Baptist, Jack Melton, captain;
Methodist, Dick Blanchard, cap
tain; Town team, Clyde Thorpe,
captain; Country club, Edwin
Beach, captain.
All garnet will be played on
Tuesday evenings at 7:30 and 8:30
p. m. Admission will be five
cents in order to pay for lights
and heat. If you haven’t been as
signed to a team and want to
play, call Ed Beach.
First half of the schedule print
ed below. Mr. Beach will furnish
an appropriate trophy for win
ning team.
Schedule:
December 15: Baptist vs. Metho
dist, 7:30; Town team vs. Coun
try club, 8:30.
No game December 22nd.
December 29: Baptist vs. Town
team; Methodist vs. Country club.
. January 5: Country club vs.
Baptist; Methodist vs. Town team.
January 12: Methodist vs. Coun
try club; Baptist vs. Town team.
January 19: Baptist vs. Metho
dist; Country club vs. Town team.
January 26; Methodist vs. Town
team; Baptist vs. Country club.
George Comer At Rotary
George Comer, superintendent of
the Tryon branch of the Adams
Millis Corp. will be in charge of
the Tryon Rotary club program
on Friday at 1 p. m., at Sunny
dale. Mr. Comer will speak on
some of the new phases of his
work.
