but the committee men receive no
salary and there is a lot of ex
pense incurred in getting office
supplies, books, fuel, etc. If you
can spare a dime to help win the
war on the home front to make
it easier for the boys at the front,

Dr. W. S. Green was elected
mayor of Tryon at a meeting of
the Town Commissioners on Mon
day night and he was sworn in
by George E. Bell, justice of the
| peace. Dr. M. C. Palmer and R.
I B. White will elect a new member
f of the council within the next few
| days to succeed Dr. Green, who
1 was on the council before being
i elevated to mayor.
