Another letter from Frank Wall on the same island thanks the Home Friendly club for the cross and chain sent him. Said it was very thoughtful of them. Olin Hipps has been promoted in the Navy to Avia tion Machinist Mate First Class at Jacksonville, Fla. Pvt. William A. Dobbyn,'inducted at Fort Jack son last week is now at Camp Claibourne, La., with H&S Co. 328th Engineers Corps Bn. Apo. 103, U. S. Army .... Mrs. L. E. Morgan of Tryon has been notified by the War Department that her son, Lieutenant Otis Morgan is now a prisoner of the Japanese, having been captured last spring in the battle of the Phillippines .... WILCOX Frank Semple Wilcox died sud denly of a heart attack Wednes day afternoon, Dec. 16th, at the Tryon Country club. Interment services will be conducted by the Rev. C. P. Burnett at the Tryon cemetery Friday afternoon at 3 o’clock. The pallbearers will be F. P. Bacon, G. H. Holmes, C. W. Ballenger, Julian B. Hester, E. O. Buckner, Demus Chapman, Am brose Mills and Claude Cochran. Mr. Wilcox is survived by his wife, Rosa Brinckerhoff Wilcox and four children, Theodore N. Wilcox of Tryon, Miss Isabel B. Wilcox of New York City, Miss Austin K. Wilcox of Tryon and Mrs. Reginald S. Wilson of Bur lington, N. C. Mr. Wilcox was a prominent textile official here and formerly at Union, S. C. Several years ago he established the Tryon Processing Co., which has had tremendous growth. Mr. Wilcox was a member of the Tryon Coun try club and for several terms one of its directors. DuRant At Rotary Friday R. SL DuRant will be in charge of the Tryon Rotary club program Friday at 1 p. m., at Sunnydale and will speak on the development of the telephone industry. B. H. Lawter Injured Boyd Lawter of Saluda, suffer ed an injury to his left hand on Tuesday when it was caught in a machine while he was at work in the Adams-Millis mill at Tryon. He lost the middle finger, and an other finger was injured. He re ceivedd treatment at St. Luke’s hospital in Tryon.
