Miss Patricia Hale Becomes
Bride of Robert C. Michael
Against a background of Christ
mas greens and gleaming white
candles, the marriage of Miss
Patricia Hale, daughter of Mrs.
Caroline H. Hale of Tryon and
Mr. Robert Campbell Michael, son
of Mr. and Mrs. John Michael
of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, was
solemnized Friday evening at
eight o’clock at the Church of
the Holy Cross. The double ring
ceremony was performed by the
Rev. Dr. George Farrand Taylor.
The altar was decorated with
Christmas greens and tall, white
candles set in candelabras. Small
groves of trees were arranged
around the chancel and the centre
aisle was bordered with small
cedar trees.
The bride was escorted to the
altar by her mother, who gave her
in marriage. She wore a gown
of ivory brocade with a heart
shaped neckline. The long-waisted
bodice had long sleeves and a full
skirt. Her long veil of ivory tulle
had a starched crown of rose point
and she carried a bouquet of
white orchids and stephanotis.
Mrs. Woodley B. Osborne, of
Englewood, New Jersey, was her
sister’s matron of honor and Miss
Nancy Michael, sister of the
bridegroom was maid of honor.
The bridesmaids were Miss Mary
Ellen Coughlin, of Milwaukee,
Wis., Miss Katherine Mcllvaine,
of Burlington, Vt., a former room
mate of the bride and Miss Faye
I Sprague, of Tryon. All were at
tired alike in gowns of turquoise
blue brocade, fashioned like the
bride’s, but with short sleeves.
