New arrivals at Oak Hall in clude: Mrs. M. M. Whitney, Grosse Pointe, Mich., and son, Pvt. Chas. of Camp Croft; Miss Florence Frew, Newark, N. J.; Floris W. Tor Meulen, Greenwich, Conn.; Lt. and Mrs. Martin Morris, Baltimore, Md. Census report shows that 5,087 bales of cotton were ginned in Polk County from the crop of 1942 prior to December 13, com pared with 4,242 bales lor the crop of 1941. Pvt. Clyde Pittman spent the weekend with Mrs. Pittman while enroute from Camp Crowder, Mo., to Camp Gordon, Ga. Mrs. A. M. Voorheis of Arden, spent Christmas with her daugh ter, Barbara, who is engaged in war work in Philadelphia. F. R. Brown, former Southern Railway station agent in Tryon, has returned to Baltimore for his final operation at Johns Hopkins hospital.
