E. A. “Gene” Turner who left
Tryon sometime ago to resume
his Y. M. C. A. work in China,
has arrived in India where he
will remain for several weeks to
do special Y. M. C. A. work with
Chinese soldiers stationed in In
dia. Mr. Turner has been in the
Orient over 25 years and is a
friend of the Chinese president.

Pvt. Stanley Glover, Somewhere
in the Pacific, writes via of Se
attle, Wash, that he had heard the
Tryon Daily Bulletin was the
smallest in the world. He is a col
lector of newspaper mast heads,
and sent two air mail stamps for
a copy of the Bulletin. He says his
hobby has brought to him com
plete newspapers from different
parts of the world.

Scott-Turner Vows Are
Heard In Spartanburg, S. C.
Spartanburg, Feb. 6. — Miss
Nita Nell Turner and Sgt. Wil
liam R. Scott were married in
Bethel Methodist church. The Rev,
George Hodges, superintendent of
the Spartanburg district and form
er pastor of the bride, officiated.
The bride was given in mar
riage by her father, Mr. McDuff
Turner. Mrs. Ben Jackson and
Mrs. Elizabeth G. Turner were
matrons of honor. The brides
maids: Mrs. James Anderson of
Gramling, Mrs. Hamish Turner,
Mrs. Robert Handell, Mrs. Wil
liam Huie. Jr., Miss Betty Turner
I of Spartanburg and Miss Duma
Harris of Columbia. Little Miss
Ann Turner, niece of the bride,
was a junior bridesmaid. Master
Hamish Turner, Jr., carried the
ring.
The best man was Ben Jackson.
Groomsmen were Hamish Turner,

Mrs. Scott is the daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. McDuff Turner of
| Spartanburg. She was graduated
from Converse college magna cum
laude with an A. B. degree. She
taught in Chesnee and Inman high
schools. She did graduate work at
Carolina university. She is now
office manager and treasurer of
the Carolina Scenic Coach lines,
of which her father is owner.
The bridegroo mis the eldest of
three sons of Mr. and Mrs. Earle
Scott of Erie and Rock Island,
111. He is an alumnus of Augus
