War Dept, announces that Miss Minnie Henson Roten, Army Nurse Corps, Keesler Field, Miss., has been promoted chief nurse with the relative rank of first lieutenant. She is a daughter of Mrs. E. Henson of Tryon . . . Mr. and Mrs. Roy Palmer and Mr. and Mrs. Riifus C. Meigs have returned to Charlotte after a visit in Tryon. Mr. Palmer is a nationally noted lighting au thority and executive of the Duke Power Co. Mr. Meigs is with the X-Ray Department of the Pres byterian hospital, Charlotte .... Charles Daniel of Landrum, who has been an editor of the Salis bury Post since 1922 has resigned to enter the hardware business in Gastonia, according to the N. C. Stearns high school put out commencement edition of its school paper last week and honored Mrs. J. A. Feagan with her picture on front page because she was retiring from school work, on account of the illness of Mr. Feagan. Mrs. Feagan in addition to being a good school teacher, is also an active civic leader of Co lumbus and correspondent for The Polk County News. Her County Seat Column in The Polk County News has been like a letter from home to hundreds of members in —Continued on Back Page._ FISHING SEASON OPENS SATURDAY, JUNE 10TH County Game Warden Arthur Pack stated today that the fish ing season would open on Sat urday, June 10th, and that the following licenses would be in force: County licenses (year) $1.10; state. license (year) $2.10; state permit (day) 60c; non-resident, (year) $5.10; non-resident (day), $1.10. The limit on crappy is 20 per day, seven inches and up. ATTENTION! PLEASE!! In order to meet our monthly quota, the Surgical Dressings Room will be open Monday through Friday from 9:30 to 1 p. m.
