Gets Training At Air Base In England Announcement from an Air Force Service Command station “somewhere in England” reveals that Pfc. Walden E. Head, son of Mr. and Mrs. Foster C. Head, of 800 West Union Extension, Morganton, is now overseas and has participated in a course desig nated to bridge the gap between training in the States and soldier ing in an active theatre of war. At one of the Air Service Com mand stations known as Control Depots, Pfc. Head was carefully processed by classification experts who made certain that he was well fitted for the job assignedto him. Security training, personal hy giene, a talk by a special service officer informing him of facilities for healthful recreation, and a lecture by the chaplain are all in turn part of the G. I.’s prep aration for his overseas duty. His next station will be one from which American fighting planes will take off to smash the Nazi war ma chine. His wife ac companied him back to camp. Steve Greenway had his tonsils removed at the Mary Black clinic in Spartanburg last Saturday. Born to Mr. and Mrs. Lindsey Greenway on June 2nd, a baby girl. There will be a working at the Sandy Plains church Saturday morning of this week, June 10th, to clean up the grounds around the church.
