Robert Michael writes from India that he has received copies of the Bulletin and that the men in his outfit saw the Tryon pic tures in Life Magazine . . . In the Home Friendly club article in Friday’s Bulletin, one number listed as 17 should have been 79. . . . Col. F. M. Albrecht has ar rived in France and reports that a large number of WACS there have improved camp cooking . . . Since St. Luke’s hospital was formed in 1939 it has rendered 57,205 days of care to patients, and more than 23,333 of these were free days—40.8 per cent of the total .... A news item in May 18th Bulletin said, “Pfc. Bur ley r. aonnson nas aixiveu m England. Says he likes the country and the people.” It reached Eng J June 22. And last week was in Tryon from Mr. and Mrs. Reeph who wrote, “Sir, in reply to your issue of May 18th, 1944, I would like to say the people also like Cpl. Burjpy T. Johnson! Prom his Host and Hostess” ... For the benefit of doubters we have ; been sleeping under blankets the latter part of July. It gets over .90 in the day time but the cool nights are wonderful. The high for Friday was 93, low 65; Saturday high 92, low 63, rain .11; Sunday high 9?, low 58 ... . The Town of Tryon will begin work this week on its rock quarry on the Hogback _Continued on Back Fag6-— Flight B Tryon CAP, Formed Here Friday The local Civil Air Patrol sec tion has become “Flight B Tryon” in the Blue Ridge Squadron, with headquarters at Spindale. The local temporary leaders and officers are: Flight Leader, Roy L. Blackwell, 2nd Lieut.; Assistant Flight Leader W|0 C. D. Stevens; Flight Sgt. Louise Hilton; Tech. Sgt. Fred Powell; Sgt. CAP Flight Leader, Charles Acker, Sgt. CAP Flight Lead er, Bobby Bishop, Cpl. The next meeting Tuesday night at 8 o’clock. COUNTY-WIDE MEETING ON WEDNESDAY There will be a county-wide beef cattle meeting for all people who are interested in developing bet ter herds of beef cattle in this county on Wednesday, August 2, at 3:30 p. m„ on the farm of Frank Jackson, two miles north of Mill Spring. Farmer Gray of WSPA Farm Service Director, will attend the meeting and make recordings to be used in his agri cultural broadcast. The purpose of the meeting is to exchange ideas concerning ex periences of the dozen or more beef cattle growers in the county. We are expecting every beef cattle grower to contribute some thing worthwhile to the meeting. Special emphasis will be placed on experiences of the beef cattle men in growing pasture, growing sil age, feeding beef cattle and other management problems. L. I.
