UNDER THE ACT OF CONGRESS, MARCH 3, 1879 WITH OUR ARMED FORCES NEWS OF MARIQN GREEN Mr. and Mrs. J. T. Green have received tneir first letter froih their son, Lieut. Francis Marion Green, since he was wounded in Europe. The letter was written October 26th and he had been able to get up from bed a little while for three days. He said except for a wound in his stomach he felt all right and if things went well, he expected to be home by Christmas. He said Alex Arledge, who works in the hospital where he is, came to see him. Most of the doctors and nurses in thehos pital are from North Carolina and many of them studied at University. Col. Gardner of N. C., and Capt. James wMRlumbus, Ohio, performed the operation on. him. ***** German Broadcast Note From Lieut, Bruce Metcalf The Provost . Marshal General at -Washington, D. C., has wired Glover E. Metcalf of Tryon. the following interesting communica tion from his son, Bruce Betcalf who was reported missing in ac tion from his son, Bruce Metcalf, the Germans.
