A telegram from I Charlotte states that the Army- j Navy football picture will be in the newsreel at Tryon Theatre this Friday, Saturday and Sun day . . . Boy Scout Court of Honor will be held at Saluda on Dec. 18, one week from next Mon day. Judge Bismarck Capps', presi dent of the Piedmont Council will deliver the charter to the Saluda troop. The public is invited to the meeting . . . Postmaster R. O. An drews states that the Tryon Post Office will remain open on Satur day afternoons of Dec. 9, 16, and 23rd, until 6 p. m., in order to accommodate the public in the dis patch of Christmas packages and mail Americans cross veiSaar River in Germany at joints. It will not cost *■—Continued on Back Page_ Frank Wall Coming Friday Cpl. Frank Wall of the U. S. Marines will arrive home early Friday morning from Atlanta, ac cording to a telephone message to Mr. and Mrs. Carl Fortner. Cpl. Wall, one of Tryon’s High School star athletes, left school right af ter Pearl Harbor and joined the Marines as quickly as he could. He was accepted on Dec. 16th and was one of the first Marines in the invasion of Guadalcanal in the Southwest Pacific. This is his first furlough home since 1941. He has been wounded twice and has been decorated with the Purple Heart and honored for ’ gallantry in ac tion in defense of his country. AT ROTARY FRIDAY Carl Johnson will be in charge of the Rotary club meeting Fri day at Oak Hall hotel. The chief speaker will be Mrs. Walter C. Hill of Tryon.
