Herman Skipper Writes From Somewhere In the Pacific “The last time I wrote to the Tryon Bulletin, We the ‘Famous Fighting 4th Marine Division’ had captured Roi and Namoi in the Marshal Islands, Tinian and Sai pan in the Mariannas; and now I can say, ‘We the Marines are gonna do it again.’ I am aboard ship, headed for a certain enemy held island; can’t say where, but you’ll know us when we hit. Well, I guess I had better close for now, because the ship is rocking quite a bit. Lots of luck to every one around Tryon and Columbus. The two best places in the world. The reason: In Columbus, I met my wife. In Tryon she lives. As ever, Pfc. Herman Skid USMCK.” Feb. 13th. J. O. Carson of New York City is visiting his mother, Mrs. May 0. Kelleyr for a few days.
