Tomorrow is a big day for Tryon with the world’s big hound show starting at 10:30 at Harmon Field, and the popular hunter trials at Mrs. Tracy’s in the Hunting Country at 2:30. A large number of spring visitors who have been coming to Tryon for years, are on hand to enjoy the event which is put on for local entertainment. . . . One of Tryon’s well-known horseback riders, Car ter Wilkie Brown, who is now rid ing army transport planes, has been promoted from second to first lieutenant with the Army Air ifor^es in Italy .... That reminds 'sJpJbf the good work being done here by the Civil Air Patrol which teaches a lot of the fundamentals of flving. Young boys and girls of Polk County have an oopor tunity to join this group and get advance information and some of the same training that is received in the flying schools. Lieut. C. D. P tevens of Tryon is head of the l^cal unit which meets tonight at 8 o’clock at the Tryon High Pchool gymnasium. . . . The requirements of our armed forces are growing. There will be a little less meats, lard, fats, and sugar but nothing to get alarmed about. There will be a wholesome diet for everyone, says WFA. Hound Show Wednesday The famous Tryon Hound Show will be held Wednesday morning at 10:30 at Harmon Field under the management of C. W. Ballen ger. The judge will be Roger Stone of Lexington, Ky., who has judged the Tryon show a number of times, and is said to be one of the best in the nation. The Tryon Hound Show' during normal times is one of the largest in America and draws entries and spectators from many distant states. The event is sponsored by the Tryon Riding & Hunt club. Hunter Trials Wednesday The annual Hunter Trials spon sored by the Tryon Riding & Hunt club will be held Wednesday af ternoon at 2:30 over the Bob Leighton course at the old Le Mort place, now known as Mrs. E. W. Tracy’s “Com Crib.” De tails of the event including names of classes, riders, horses, etc., are published on the inside of this issue of the Bulletin. Turn to it for further information. Robert Leighton is manager of the Hunter Trials. Mrs. 'Mary Jackson of Kiswic, Va., an outstanding au thority, will be the judge. Miss Clifford Smith, religious director of the Second Presbyterian church in Spartanburg, will be the guest speaker at the regular 10:57 Wednesday morning assembly per iod of the Tryon graded school.
