Nelson Jackson, Jr., vice-president of the Piedmont Boy Scout Council of 11 counties, a director of JReeion 6 for the Carolinas, Georgia and Florida, was recently awarded the silver antelope, for being the outstand ing Scouter of North Carolina the past year, according to Scout Executive R. M. Schiele, who an nounced that the award was made at a meeting in Atlanta recently. _Continued on Back Page Combined Choirs Feature Of Baccalaureate Service The combined choirs of the Episcopal, Baptist and Congrega tional churches, directed by Dr. R. A. Laslett Smith, will sing Sunday night at 8 o’clock at the Tryon High School baccalaureate service at the school auditorium. The Rev. N. G. Bethea of the Tryon Methodist church will preach the baccalaureate sermon, and read the Scripture lesson. Other parts of the program will include vocal solo by Miss Mary Gamble, who will sing, “How Lovely Is The Hand of God.” Mrs. Edward R. Goodyear will play the procession al; Rev. T. P. Horger of the Pres byterian church will give the in vocation; prayer by Rev. Frank W. Murtfeldt of the Congregation al church; anthem, “Hark, Hark, My Soul” by the choir; benediction by Rev. B. G. Henry of the Baptist church. NEW P.-T. A. OFFICERS ARE INSTALLED At the final meeting of the year of the Tryon Parent-Teachers As sociation, the following officers were elected to serve during the next school year: President, Mrs. C. A. Martin. Vice-president, Mrs. John Wash burn. Secretary, Miss Mary Gamble. Treasurer, Mrs. Ralph Jackson. Members of the advisory board are as follows: Mrs. E. E. Missil dine, Mrs. C. N.
