Achievement Awards Given To Tryon Students At the Grammar grades’ final program this morning at Tryon school, awards were presented to three students who had made the most general achievement during the past year. The W. S. Green trophy for the best all ’round pupil of the Sixth grade went to Joan Arledge, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Arledge; the James R. Trowbridge trophy for the best student in the Seventh grade went to Carroll Brady, son of Mr. and Mrs. R. H. Brady; and the Nelson Jackson, Jr., trophy for the best all ’round Eighth grade student was presented to Raymond Anderson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Joe Anderson. BUYS TAYLOR HOME Completion of the sale of Miss Harriet U. Taylor’s house on Grady avenue to Mayor F. P. Bacon has been made. Sale through G. Harrison Bridgeman. Mrs. R- W. Hardin and twins of Asheville are visiting Mrs. Hardin’s mother, Mrs. L. F. Buchanan. Mrs. Jessie O’Shields is visiting her daughter-in-law, Mrs. Matt O'Shields, and grandson, Michael. David Johnson, age seven, has returned home after a tonsil op eration at St. Luke’s hospital. Edward Wheeler Frost Edward Wheeler Frost, a resi dent of Tryon for many years, passed away Thursday, May 24th, in Providence, Rhode Island. He is survived by two brothers, Robert L. Frost, San Diego, Calif., and Walter A. Frost, New York City. Funeral services were held this morning at 10:30 at McFarland’s Funeral Home, conducted by Rev. C. P. Burnett. Interment Tryon cemetery. Garden Club Gives $100 To Service Centers At a special meeting of the Tryon Garden club which met on Thursday afternoon at the home of Mrs. J. B. Hester, the meml^k voted to give one hundred dofi^p to the Red Cross hospital com mittee. Fifty dollars to go for garden furtherance for the Lake Lure Rest Center and fifty dollars to Moore General hospital. Joint meeting of Rotary and Kiwanis clubs Tuesday at 1 p. m. at Oak Hall hotel.
