Holland Brandy, Jr., with the 95th Division has sailed from France and is on his way home for a furlough. Harold Erskine has returned home from an extensive trip to California and the Florida Keys. He was accompanied home by a friend, J. Vinson Halleron. Maj. A. W. Goodyear, district manager for the Alexander Film Corp., was a guest of his brother, Dr. Edward R. Goodyear, this week while enroute from Alabama to Pennsylvania. Mrs. Craig Furr is visiting Mr. and Mrs. C. J. Beaver of China Jhve and Mr. and Mrs. G. C. -^rr at High Point. The fine Barred Rock hens of Ted N. Wilcox are still leading in the Georgia National Egg Laying contest being conducted at Athens, Ga. Junior Ballew of the U. S. Navy is stationed on the Luzon in the Philippines and is going to try to look up Bill Dobbyns of the U. S. Army, who is also stationed there. Mr. and Mrs. Prentice Luckey of Cambridge, Md., formerly of Tryon, are at Oak Hall for a few days. Other guests include Dr. B. B.. Vincent Lyons an annual visitor to Tryon is here from Winter Park, Fla.; Miss Daisy Hamilton of Cleveland, O., (visit her sister, Mrs. Mary Mor Mrs. William P. Lanford o^^ Spartanburg and Mrs. Y. Nelidski of Winter Park, Fla. SlSgt. W. L, Garrett, who has just finished a course as mechanic on a P-47 at Chanute Field, 111., is visiting relatives in Polk while enroute to Bluethenthal Field, near Wilmington, N. C. Mr. and Mrs. H. B.
